APPOINTMENTS
Edelman, the world's largest independent public relations firm, announced the retirement of Pam Talbot, the firm's U.S. president and CEO; she will continue as a consultant. Nancy Ruscheinski, president of Edelman's Midwest Region, was appointed to the role of president and chief operating officer.

The Shops at North Bridge announced the appointment of Erica Strama to marketing manager.

United Way appointed Deborah L. DeHaas, vice chairman and regional managing partner at Deloitte LLP, chairperson of the 2008 United Way of Metropolitan Chicago board of directors.

Annabelle Volgman, MD, has been appointed president-elect of the American Heart Association's Metro Chicago Board of Directors.

Cheryl L. Shure was appointed to executive vice president for external affairs at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park.

Northeastern Illinois University Foundation announced the appointment of Carla Knorowskim, MD, to vice president for advancement and executive director. Anne T. Sullivan joined Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. as vice president in charge of establishing a historic preservation practice sector in the Chicago office.

Reading In Motion has appointed Sian Sutcliffe to manager of corporate and foundation relations.

Lexis Livengood was hired as a senior associate in UGL Equis' Chicago office.

Verdi P. Allen was appointed to deputy district chief of the Chicago Fire Department.

Christine E. Mullally and Marjorie Bomben were promoted to the rank of field officer with the Chicago Fire Department.

Sarah Wilcox has been named the chief marketing officer for CarePages, Inc.

Angela Curran has been named the executive director of Community Nurse Health Association.

Denise L. Taylor has been promoted to director of development for the Infant Welfare Society of Chicago.

Concordia University Chicago announced that Paige Craig has joined their staff as the director of Alumni Relations.

The Chicago Community Trust announced the appointment of Elizabeth D. Richter to vice president of marketing and communications, and Jamie Phillippe to vice president of development and philanthropic services.

Cody McSellers-McCray joined the Women's Health Foundation as the program director, a newly created role.

The following physicians were appointed to the medical staff at Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago: Jill Antoniazzi, MD, Emergency Medicine; Jacqueline Cameron, MD, Medicine/Palliative Medicine; Vithida Sueblinvong, MD, Pediatrics/Cardiology.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Chatam office announced Katherine Jolivet as the top volume sales associate of the month, Sheryl Carter as the top selling sales associate of the month and Yvette Crisp and Joyce McCarthy as the top listing sales associate of the month for February.

The Theatre School at DePaul University honored Lois Weisberg, commissioner for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, with the 2008 Leadership Award for Excellence in the Arts.

The Cardinal Bernardin Award was presented to Karen Gatsis Anderson for her donation to create a public interest law fellowship and the funding of a redesign of a training courtroom at the University of Illinois College of Law.

Mary Rooney-Sheahen, RN, received the Woman of Influence Award by Professional Women's Initiative.

Ina Pinkney, chef and owner of Ina's Kitchen, has been selected 2008 SBA Woman in Business Champion of the Year.

Chicago attorney Michele M. Jochner is a candidate for the position of third vice president of the Illinois State Bar Association. If elected, she will lead the 34,000 member group.

The United Way of Metropolitan Chicago Tocqueville Society hosted the 14th annual United Way Tocqueville Society Recognition Dinner. The dinner featured a Tribute to a Legacy of Caring video, featuring event honorees Sheila A. Penrose, Deborah DeHaas and Pam Strobel.

The Theatre School at DePaul University honored Bank of America with the Corporate Award for their contributions to the arts on a national basis.

The Charles J. O'Laughlin Memorial Award was presented to Holland & Knight LLP.

The Pro Bono Award was presented to Schiff Hardin LLP for their focus on civil rights and law reform cases.
