PlusFrom The Editor | Sherren LeighTsi-tsi-ki Felix, our cover profile this month, is an Emmy award winning TV anchor for Telemundo-Chicago. In addition to anchoring the 5pm newscast, Tsi-tsi-ki is the anchor of a new 10:30am show geared toward women that debuted at WSNS-44 this past April. To say she's a dynamo is an understatement. Her enthusiasm, energy and beauty all combine to predict a bright future for Tsi-tsi-ki.Another remarkable woman is Jennifer Woolford, senior vice president of marketing communications for Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. The scope of her job is immense – not only does she handle all of the marketing initiatives and campaigns for MMPI, she's active in civic organizations and school activities for her children. I first met Jennifer years ago when she was handling the public relations for Bloomingdale's and was impressed by her creativity and organizational skills. Many Chicagoans were surprised when Sheila O'Grady, Mayor Daley's Chief of Staff at the time, left the position a few years ago to start a family. She returned to the workforce a little over a year ago as president of the Illinois Restaurant Association. Sheila, as this month's profile in The Last Word, dishes about dining, advocacy and how she juggles the demanding roles of wife and mother to two toddlers with her executive position. It's rare that TCW features a man on its cover, but back in October 2000, the lead story was The New Philanthropists, and our Man of the Month this month, Neil Zucker, appeared on the cover with Elizabeth Berger. In the article, Neil was quoted as saying, "At a time in our society when there's so much wealth, we also recognize the sad fact that there's a growing number of men, women and children in need of such basics as food and shelter. There's so much to do." Since then, a lot has been done, but the need continues to grow and Neil continues to work tirelessly on a number of charitable and civic projects. I hope that TCW readers will join us on Tuesday, May 20th at The Chopping Block in The Merchandise Mart from 6-8pm for an evening of food, friendship and fun with Chef Charlie Trotter as the evening's guest of honor, along with other celebrity chefs. Winemaker Carlo Mondavi will be on hand to answer questions concerning fine wines. All money raised that evening will benefit the Today's Chicago Woman Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, since the evening has been underwritten by Leigh Communications, Inc., publishers of Today's Chicago Woman. To receive an evite, please email TCWFbenefit@TCWmag.com. To date, the Foundation has assisted over 100 area charities that assist women and their children in need.
